It is a privilege to present you EMSA Summer School!
This is a project that brings together students from all around the world interested in gaining and exchanging knowledge in the field of emergency medicine. For the seventh time, the school will take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from July 27th untill August 4th 2010. It is organised by EMSA Zagreb and Student Section of Croatian Medical Association of Zagreb.
The main theme of the project is emergency medicine and it consists of the following topics: • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS & ALS) • Shock & coma • Drug abuse & poisoning • Polytraumatized patient & basic surgical skills • Rational pharmacotherapy • Pediatric emergencies • Principles of critical medical thinking
The scientific part is composed of lectures, interactive seminars, practical skills and daily cases held by Croatian leading experts in this field. Every student will have a chance to renew and expand his/her knowlegde, as well as master new skills. In the afternoon there will be a wide choice of electives such as: ECG basics, Labour and delivery, Practicals extra, Surgical skills, Sport trauma etc.
Alongside the scientific part, a well organized social program is meant to enrich this unique experience by enabling participants to make new friendships and to develop a feeling of team spirit. The social program includes sightseeing and an insight in Dubrovnik's rich history, team buildings, sport activities, EMSA Village Party, field trips, medical games and nightlife...
The school is concluded on August 4th by a written exam and a certificate of attendance which is handed to each participant on a ceremonial gala dinner.
Evaluation of the School is made through a questionaire which grades all the segments (boarding and logding, lectures, seminars, workshops, cultural and social life, lecturers and the organizing committee). The number of participants is set up to a total of 40 and is limited for the purpose of achieving a better quality of work in small groups using an individual approach.

The REGISTRATION FORM will be available on our website from February 15th. Registration of participants will be ELECTRONIC only, which means you will have to fill in the form in your internet browser and click on the submit button to send it to us.
After you fill in the registration form, your participation will be in queue until our committee accepts your application (decided by: the motivation letter, FMO and country limitations) which should not last more than 96 hours. When accepted the participants have the next 96 hours to transfer money to our bank account. You can facilitate this process by sending us a scanned receipt or proof of payment to our e-mail or you can fax it to +38514655066. If you have difficulties with paying the whole amount in advance you can pay EUR 50 as a voucher to keep your place reserved, but pay attention to the fact that this amount is not refundable in case you cancel your participation. The OC maintains the right of not accepting some registrations depending on the number of the applicants from a specific country, because there is limitation of maximum 4 persons from one country, but exceptions are possible. Low participation fee of EUR 300,00 is available for first 14 applicants. Registration fee of EUR 350,00 applies for next 13 applicants, and EUR 400,00 for last 13 applicants, and in that price the following is included: - accommodation (9 days and 8 nights) - food (3 meals a day; breakfast; light lunch, dinner) - course (with all learning materials, and final exam) - trip to Island Lokrum, and “fare-well” trip on final day of the School to the Island of Lopud - access and participation in social programme as defined in the agenda

If you (for some reason) have to cancel your registration you can get refunded: 100% of the fee you paid if you cancel before and including May 15th 2010 50% of the fee you paid if you cancel before and including June 1st 2010 25% of the fee you paid if you cancel before and including June 15th 2010 The refund transfers will be made with all costs for the reciever.
