By airplane Dubrovnik’s airport in Cilipi, 20 km away from the town, is a modern tourist facility, capable of servicing all types and sizes of aircrafts. The airport is well connected with all European centers and the USA via regular commercial flights, both directly from Dubrovnik and through connection flights via Zagreb. If you start your flight from Zagreb, we recommend buying the tickets in advance, because economy class return-ticket prices vary from EUR 50 to EUR 150. If you chose to fly in, you’ll arrive at the Dubrovnik - Cilipi International Airport. Both domestic and foreign arrival and departure areas are located on the ground floor. "Atlas" runs a bus service from the airport to the main bus station after every flight. The price is 30 HRK per person or app. EUR 4. Of course, there are taxis available as well, and that would cost you app. 200 HRK or app. EUR 27.

By car The road network in Croatia is very good. There is higway from all bigger borders to Zagreb and than from Zagreb to every big city in Croatia, such as Rijeka, Split or Osijek. These are all new roads. Entering Croatia from Slovenia, Hungary, and Serbia will take you directly to fast highways connected to Zagreb and then from there to virtually every point in Croatia. If you are going to Dubrovnik from Zagreb by car, you should take the highway to Zadar-Split-Ravča (460km) and than you should drive to Dubrovnik by the coast trough the state roads (around 100 km). If you are going from somewhere else, we recommend to visit the following links for route planning:

By bus Because of an extensive network of competing private bus companies serving both domestic and international routes, the bus is the preferred way of getting around Croatia.
Generally, traveling by buses is a faster and more comfortable than taking the train, although the fares are app. 20% more expensive.
“Eurolines” offer international services in Zagreb, Rijeka, Split and Zadar, with the majority of international “Eurolines” lines operating out of Zagreb. International cities connected include Berlin, Budapest, Cologne, Frankfurt, Ljubljana, Munich, Nuremberg, Sarajevo, Stuttgart and Vienna.
Smaller bus companies also offer international services. A large number of different operators in Zagreb have connections to destinations in Austria, Germany and Slovenia, while others operate international services from their regional bases. International services from Rijeka are handled by “Autotrans” and those from Osijek by “Panturist”.
Most bus companies have frequent domestic lines from their regional base to bigger cities like Zagreb and Split. Apart from the ferry, the buses are the only way for independent travelers to get around the southern Dalmatia as there are no trains south of Split.
All buses operate from a central bus station (Autobusni kolodvor) which is usually located within walking distance of the train station. The ticket counter usually sells tickets for all buses regardless of the route or company. You normally get a ticket for the next available departure unless you ask for a specific departure. In the bigger bus stations such as the Zagreb bus station, there may be separate ticket windows for international departures.
The journey from Zagreb to Dubrovnik usually lasts 6 to 9 hours and more than a half of the trip is a on highway (around 460 km), after that there is no highway to Dubrovnik (around 100 km). We recommend buying food and drinks prior to the departure. Check out the following links for time tables: EUROLINES and the EUROLINES' local partner AUTOTRANS RIJEKA
